What is the Historic Tram Tour?
The Eureka Springs Historic Tram Tour drives you through the history of Eureka Springs from the comfort of an open air tram.
During this ride, you will learn all about the town and some of the highlights in the area from your experienced guide. Tours run at 1 p.m and 3 p.m. daily and have a couple stops where you are able to get out and see some of the history up close.
Our experiences during the Historic Tram Tour
This was our second historical tour of Eureka Springs. Our first tour was the Downtown N Underground Tour. We learned and saw different things on both tours.
We started out at the City of Eureka Springs Transit & Welcome Center. It’s just down the road from our hotel, The Best Western Inn of the Ozarks. There is a nice large parking lot on the property and there are signs saying you have to pay to park. However, the parking is included with your tram ticket. The Historic Tram Tour tickets cost $15.00 plus tax and fees ($17.50) for adults and $7.00 plus tax and fees ($7.75) for kids, ages 4 thru 11 years old.
There was just enough seating for our group and we had the whole back car to ourselves. Speakers were on each car, so we could hear our guide clearly.
Christie was our guide, she did a wonderful job at providing plentiful information about her hometown.
We had two stops during the tram ride. The first one being the Crescent Hotel.
This was our third visit to the Crescent Hotel this weekend. Christie recommended what to see and do during this 15-20 minute stop. We had visited the hotel multiple times yet, we still had more to discover.
Keep an eye out for our full Crescent Hotel Article where we will explain more about our time spent at the hotel. We have yet to stay overnight but hope to return soon to stay a night or two.
During our ride we passed many historic buildings, homes, and springs. There are so many elements that make Eureka Springs, Arkansas so special.
Our second stop was the Grotto Spring.
This stop takes you down into a cave like spring. This spring is called the Grotto Spring.
Christie revealed the history of the healing springs and how it has healed some people, even in today’s day in age.
On our route back, we cruised through downtown and glimpsed at the interesting buildings and areas we had previously walked through.
Overall Thoughts
Our guide Christie was phenomenal, she made the history lively and entertaining.
She was so rooted in Eureka Springs, it made the tour seem so exclusive. Some tours guides just relay facts but Christie shared her stories and personal experiences.
We loved the Tram Tour and especially enjoyed the comfort of the cooling breeze driving through the town.
The boys loved it as well and the tram even rocked them into a brief nap on the way back to the lot.
