In our many visits to Cozumel we have purchased a variety of local made and unique souvenirs and products.
Here is our list of souvenir shopping ideas and tips for your next Cozumel trip.
Local Vendors – Unique Cozumel Gifts
Products
You should always check out the local vendors wherever you travel. It’s important to keep the culture and history thriving through the support of local businesses.
It’s surprising the creative hand made or local made souvenirs you can find. There are many little huts with beautifully made products and souvenirs. We have seen everything from sombreros, ukuleles, lucha libre masks, toys, decorations and so much more. These types of stores have all souvenirs for all kind of people.
Tips
Start out by window shopping. Just browse and look at the different items. Be sure to keep in mind the prices at the different shops. Sometimes you can find better deals or better looking souvenirs at different vendors.
On my first trip to Cozumel we wanted to get some sombreros. The prices fluctuated greatly at each vendor and as we walked away they shouted out lower and lower prices.
Also make sure to bring cash in a variety of lower bills. It makes it easier to haggle though as the areas have become more popular and touristy it has became harder to haggle.
Location
You can find many vendors with unique souvenirs all around the port. Depending on which port you go to. They are not too far from each other so you may want to check out the shops around each of them. Check out the Maps below to see what shops are around each port.
or
Del Sol – Color Changing Clothing
Products
Del Sol is a chain of stores around the world but they do have very unique merchandise. Their clothing items fill in with color when exposed to sunlight and revert to un-colored when indoors away from sun.
They make great souvenirs for anyone especially children. I purchased my first Del Sol shirt in Cozumel years ago and have since gotten other products for friends and family.
Tips
If you buy one make sure you wash it properly so it still fills in the colors.

Products
Once stepping off the ship you will see a few jewelry stores around both ports. They usually have good prices and a variety of jewelry for both men and women. They make great souvenirs for loved ones in your life. We have gotten my wife’s Grandma a necklace from Cozumel and she loved it.
Tips
Some cruise ships have advertisements and papers that give you free or discounted jewelry at certain stores. Be sure to ask cruise staff about that before exiting the ship.

That wraps up our Souvenir Shopping in Cozumel, Mexico article. Do you find this helpful and agree with our tips and ideas or are there things we missed. Please let us know in the comments below.
I don’t usually specifically go out souvenir shopping. If I see something that is locally made and that I will actually use like clothing or jewelry, then I’ll sometimes treat myself. I also like to bring home spices or cooking items that can travel so I can recreate meals I had on my trip at home.
I love a good souvenir shopping guide, and this one ticks all the boxes for Cozumel. I love local and handmade. It makes it even more special to bring that kind of souvenir hone with you.
OMG I haven’t seen colour changing shirts since the 80s! Would have to pick up one of these retro babies from Del Sol.
I completely agree with your point about looking for local vendors to buy things from. I like the sound of little huts with beautifully made products and souvenirs, that’s definitely where I am going for my souvenirs when I finally make it to Cozumel one day.
I like to bring home souvenirs that represent the places that I’ve visited. They are usually small because they are ‘memories’ and don’t need to be big to remind me of where I have been. Yes, I window shop first to see what’s available and then I negotiate on price if that is customary for the area.
I’m really bad with bringing back souvenirs, other than a million odd photos and videos, I never actually bring anything home, except for the occasional t-shirt. Raquel does have a huge collection of snowglobes from each country she has visited though.
I love bringing souvenirs home but not big ones like I did in Lithuania once where I brought home four pieces of art work which I really really like. Good job they were well protected in the hold luggage as I spent ££££££!!!! 😀
These are really good tips, especially for first time travelers to Cozumel.
Oh I’d never thought of exploring a Hard Rock Café for souveneirs. What a fun way to bring back a little bit of home from a different place.
I love those colour changing T-shirts and surely gonna buy 2-3 for myself. Jewellery too will top my list whereas my husband with prefer buying drinks. Thanks for writing and sharing this list to buy from Cozumet.
