San Lorenzo Restaurant in New Orleans Foodie Review and Tips for your visit

Found within the Lower Garden District of New Orleans, the enchanting city of culinary delights and amorous ambiance, the San Lorenzo Restaurant at St. Vincent Hotel promises an unforgettable dining experience.

This charming eatery beckons lovebirds and gourmands alike with its romantic lighting, delectable cuisine, and impeccable service, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking an indulgent and memorable evening.

Romantic Lighting: A Soft Glow of Elegance

My wife loves picking restaurants from their ambience. San Lorenzo’s has a beautiful romantic ambience indoor and out.

Upon stepping into the San Lorenzo Restaurant, guests are greeted with a warm and intimate ambiance crafted through careful attention to lighting. Soft, subtle hues of warm gold and gentle candlelight dance across the room, setting the stage for an evening filled with romance and delight.

The dimmed lighting casts a flattering glow, accentuating the best features of every diner, and creating an intimate atmosphere that encourages meaningful conversation and connection.

Delicious Food

At the heart of the San Lorenzo experience lies an extraordinary culinary symphony orchestrated by their talented team of chefs. The menu boasts a delightful fusion of traditional New Orleans fare with contemporary twists, resulting in dishes that are both familiar and excitingly new. Every plate is a work of art, meticulously crafted with the finest, locally-sourced ingredients that celebrate the rich culinary heritage of Louisiana.

Our Dinner :

We were quickly served Complimentary bread w/spread. The bread and butter were delicious. They offered multiple styles of bread. We enjoyed every bit of it,

They have a great selection of wine and drinks but we opted for two Astra Paloma (nonalcoholic) as our drinks of choice.

Once we saw they offered Truffle Fries we just had to get it as our street. It came with aioli.

For dinner my wife Kayla ordered the Spaghetti Pomodoro (eggplant, ricotta salata, fresh basil). She really liked it. It was a good portion size and she had left overs.

I ordered the Fresh Linguine Vongole (Manila clams, white wine, chiles, breadcrumb). I had not had many seafood pastas before but I enjoyed it. It was flavorful and fresh.

For dessert we shared orange olive oil cake for dessert. Our waiter recommended it and we were glad he did. It was tasty and we had never heard of it before.

From sumptuous seafood creations like crawfish étouffée and blackened redfish to mouthwatering delicacies like tender filet mignon and perfectly seared foie gras, each dish is designed to take diners on a journey of flavors and textures that leave taste buds dancing with delight. Accompanied by an expertly curated wine list featuring an array of vintages from around the world, the dining experience at San Lorenzo is nothing short of a gastronomic celebration.

Great Service: The Art of Attentiveness

What truly sets San Lorenzo apart is its commitment to delivering impeccable service. The attentive and knowledgeable staff ensures that each guest is treated like royalty from the moment they step foot inside the restaurant. The well-trained servers are adept at recommending dishes that suit individual preferences and providing insightful details about the culinary creations, enriching the dining experience further.

Our waiter, Sahand, did wonderful. He knew the menu well and was able to make recommendations. He also left us a handwritten card with suggestions of places to go and things to do in the city. It was very thoughtful.

It’s a wonderful area with historic homes, hotels and restaurants. We discovered San Lorenzo’s by biking the area and fell in love with the ambience.

During our New Orleans trip there were occasional rain showers and the outdoor seating was closed.
