What’s there to do in Oklahoma? Visit Ray Harral Nature Park and Nature Center in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma!
I have been visiting and walking the trails of Ray Harral Nature Park for years. I first went over 20 years ago when I was just a kid. My dad would take me and my brother to go on nature walks and explore the great outdoors. Today my wife and I enjoy bringing our kids to enjoy the park.
Why the Ray Harral Nature Center and Park?
There are many reasons why you should visit the Park. It is a 40 acre park with a 3 mile walking trail, flower gardens, a suspension brige, picnic tables , grills, geocaches, and so much more.
The Nature Center
One of my favorite aspects of the park is the nature center. It has so many interactive activities and exhibits for all ages. They have live animals inside as well. Keep in mind the Nature Center is closed on Sundays but even if you can only visit on a Sunday the park itself is worth visiting and hiking.

The Trails
The trails are easy enough for all ages but still fun for experienced hikers. A bonus is the many geocaches hidden throughout the park. Both of our boys have waked and ran throughout the trails without any issues at all. It’s short enough not to take all day if you don’t want it to. It is nearly impossible to get lost, the trails are marked clearly and there are many types of wildlife and plants to be seen.
The History of Ray Harral
Mr. Harral
Ray Harral really enjoyed parks and leisure facilities. He assisted in creation Indian Springs Sports Complex where many kids play baseball and soccer. Mr Harral was retired Highway Patrol Officer. He was the Assistant City Manager when he passed away in 1984. The City Council named the park after him because it was being developed when he passed.
Park Land
Starting in 1909 the park was used for the City of Broken Arrows water resource. They used the spring to pipe water directly to city hall. The city of Broken Arrow also previously grew Christmas trees on the land. When new water resources were secured they re-developed the land into the park it is today.
