Gloss Mountain State Park also known as Glass Mountains or Gloss Mountains is quite a beautiful place. It’s unlike anything else in Oklahoma. The landscape is such vastly different than the rest of the grand land that is Oklahoma.
When I first saw a photo of Gloss Mountain State Park it was hard to believe it was in Oklahoma. It almost seems like a gorgeous secret, but I believe more people should experience its beauty. After learning about it we made plans to visit it among a few other nearby state parks.
When arriving we were astounded that this was in our home state and we had no clue it even existed. We discovered it by researching what state parks Oklahoma has, considering we were getting into hiking and camping as a family.
Gloss Mountain gets its name from the Gypsum Selenite rocks that look like glass. At the start of one of the hiking trails there is a dish filled with these cool rocks that you can have for your collection.
The hiking trails were well maintained and fun for our entire family. There were many geocaches hidden along the trails that made the hike even more exciting.
Gloss Mountain State Park is worth a visit if you enjoy the outdoors and hiking. You can not camp there but there are nice campgrounds at nearby state parks.
It is located an hour west of Enid, Oklahoma. We found it using our Waze GPS app and searching Gloss Mountain State Park.
