Our day at Niagara Falls.
My most anticipated day on our recent Northeastern road trip was our day at Niagara Falls. We explored both the USA and Canada sides. Our experiences at the falls were even more amazing than I imagined.
We started out at our hotel in Niagara, USA the Wingate by Wyndham. It was a fantastic hotel and I’d recommend the stay because of the proximity to everything and the cleanliness and comfort it provided us.
We excitedly met up with the rest of the family and grabbed a quick bite of delicious Italian food at VILLELLA’S ITALIAN RESTAURANT. The food was delicious and it was fairly priced. The bread was amazing and we could not stop eating it. After our lunch we piled in our rental van and made a short drive to the convenient parking lots within walking distance of the falls and tourist attractions.
We hurried to the Maid of the Mist where we had an amazing experience which you can read more about in our post about Maid of the Mist.
After the maid of the mist a few of us took a short walk up to the falls where we cooled and got completely soaked. It felt amazing since it was a hot July day.
Then we rode the elevator to meet up with the rest at one of the viewing spots. We had an amazing view of the falls and the buildings that make up a beautiful cityscape of Ontario,Canada.
After enjoying the views from the USA side it was time to grab our passports and meet our friends from Canada. We had a little bit of a wait to cross into Canada but it was not too bad. We were excited to see our friends. We were thankful they had drove to Niagara to meet us. We hadn’t seen them since the first time we met in Costa Rica back in 2015. But this time we got to meet each others children, they brought their daughter Becca we obviously had Cash with us. Cash and Becca were instant friends! They ran around and played hide and seek and tag in the park.
Before long the sun started setting and some of the family started getting tired from the heat and the walking. But I just had to see a closer view of the horseshoe falls. I took a quick jog down to the end so I could get some photos of the horseshoe falls without the large chunk of mist blocking the full view.
After viewing and photographing the horseshoe falls we wished our Canadian friends good bye and hopes to meet up again someday.
Now it was getting dark, the lights were shining on the falls and before long it would be firework time. We hurried back to meet up with the rest of the family and we were able to hang out on rainbow bridge halfway in Canada and halfway in USA and enjoy the fireworks over the falls.
After the spectacular fireworks show we paid our 50 cents each to reenter the United States, went through customs and arrived safely back at the hotel for a late night hotel pizza party with family.
It was a jam packed day but tons of fun! We wish we had more time at Niagara and will be making a longer trip there in the future.
