Cozumel, Mexico a frequent stopping point for many cruise lines. I have been their three times now and plan to go back many more times. All three times were during Carnival Cruises. We have had planned excursions and also went without anything planned, just enjoying the beach, the restaurants and shops.
My first arrival in Cozumel Mexico, was in the summer of 2007 during my first carnival cruise. I went on our cruise for my senior vacation with my family. (Check out our post about what I wish I knew before my first cruise) I learned about haggling, and waiting to buy anything at the end of your time in Cozumel. That way you get the best price and don’t have to carry it the whole time until you get back on. We wanted sombreros and as we walked along the merchants were extremely eager to sell, as we walked by they shouted out prices and kept going lower and lower as we walked away.
My second stop in Cozumel was on a cruise with my wife Kayla and my in-laws, Kayla was pregnant at the time and she still had a blast. We went and hung out at Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville, It was a blast, at the back of the restaurant the ladies could lounge on the deck and they had a swimming area with giant inflatable mountains to climb up and jump off, there was also many fish to snorkel to and see in the clear blue water.
For our 3 year wedding anniversary we went to Cozumel on my 3rd Carnival Cruise which was Kayla second cruise. It was a short cruise and our only stop was in Cozumel. We had an amazing excursion with Tripping Cool Group in Chankanaab National Park. We did some snorkeling with my Gopro and made this awesome video while we were there. (Check out my post about my Gopro) Kayla snorkeled for a while then decided to relax on the beach. I kept exploring the sea finding a variety of fish. When coming back to shore to check on Kayla I found a big iguana hanging out on the beach with her. After the snorkeling we had tequila tasting and a Sea Lion show.
Cozumel, Mexico is a place worth visiting whether your going to go on a planned excursion or just explore the island. It is great for all ages and a regular stop on most cruises. I know the ships have everything you could ever want but make sure and get off the ship and explore Cozumel Mexico. We plan on returning there on another cruise and bring our son Cash. We may even look into going to an all inclusive resort and staying there longer than a day.
Please share your thoughts about visiting Cozumel. What was your favorite part? What was your favorite excursion? Have you taken a cruise there or stayed at an all inclusive resort?
