Chankanaab Adventure Beach Park in Cozumel, Mexico
Our adventure at Chankanaab Beach Park in Cozumel, Mexico was much more than we expected. We snorkeled in fish filled reefs, tasted over 12 flavors of Tequila, watched a Sea Lion show, ate delicious food and relaxed at the beach.
What does Chankanaab mean?
Chankanaab means little sea or small sea in Mayan. Chankanaab is actually a coastal cenote located the Marine National Park. For more about Cenotes check out our Cenote Article.
What all can you do at Chankanaab?
Chankanaab has so many activities packed into one beautiful part of the island. There is so many options and things to do you can’t do it all in one trip.
Snorkeling
The snorkeling was great! We brought our own snorkel gear so we didn’t have to wait for the rest of the snorkelers. We dove right in and saw many beautiful fish, coral reef and underwater statues. I even snorkeled around the restaurant and hangout area and saw schools of fish there as well.
Tequila Tasting
I was never big on drinking Tequila but it came included in our tour package. I was surprised at how delicious they were! We tried many flavors some I didn’t even know existed. The flavors I remember trying were coffee, almond, chocolate, and the best was the blue tequila. It was surprisingly delicious.
Sea Lion Show
The Sea Lion show was hilarious and complimentary. There are many show times so be sure to give it a watch. The silly sea lions interacted with the crowd well and seemed to enjoy performing.

Even more activities
There are even more activities that we did not have time for or were not included in our package. They had a swim with dolphins experience, a walk through archaeological replicas, botanical gardens, zip lines, and even kayak trips. We can’t wait to go back and see the what else Chankanaab will have in store for us.

I love Chankanaab so much. We’ve been there probably 5 or 6 times and enjoyed it every time. Of course, Cozumel as a whole is absolutely wonderful and an excellent place to spend some time. Lots of time in my book.
I’ve been in Cozumel a few times, but never went to the Chankanaab Adventure Park however. After reading your post I feel sorry we didn’t go. It looks like so much fun!
Looks like you had a great time in Chankanaab. The waters are perfect and I can only imagine the underwater beauty you enjoyed while snorkeling. We’ve not spent enough time in Mexico and Cozumel is one of the top places we’d like to discover. Will now add Chankanaab to the list.
Chankanaab Adventure Beach Park in Cozumel in Mexico looks like a fun spot. I’ve never been to Cozumel but it looks like I should go!
I am now sorry we missed this when we visited Cozumel. I am not a Tequila drinker. But I definitely would want to snorkel and see the sea lions. I would love to see the underwater statues.
Definitely a good spot to drown that tequila!! Looks pretty busy though! But must be a good place to spend a great time with friends!
This sounds great! Would love to see the underwater statues and sea lion show. Tequila tasting is always a good thing, I haven’t tried flavors.
After reading your post, I’m kind of bummed we didn’t make it to Chankanaab. It was on our itinerary for a port day in Cozumel, but then a friend told us about an amazing tour guide at Tulum. We decided to go there instead. It WAS amazing, but we never had enough time to do beach stuff too.
I love visiting Mexico and snorkeling in the beautiful waters. Chankanaab looks like an interesting spot that the kids might enjoy. I’ll for tequila tasting myself. 😉
I know a lot of people who have been to Cozumel but I haven’t heard of Chankanaab Adventure Park before. It looks like a really interesting spot with beautiful waters.
