It’s time for new camping recipes. Camping is fun but the same old packed sandwiches and roasted hot dogs can get old if you camp frequently.
My wife Kayla has some good go-to recipes, that she has learned from other family members or found online (mainly Pinterest), to use while camping. She has tested and tried many of the recipes, and the boys and I have been the taste testers.
Here’s our list of our favorite delicious camping foods that are easy to make.
We have broken the list down to meal types, but we don’t make the rules eat what you want when you want. Go ahead have s’mores for breakfast- we don’t judge.
Breakfast ideas for camping.
Breakfast Burritos
Pre make breakfast burritos and freeze them. Not only does it make it easy to heat up, it also can keep your other foods cold in the cooler.

Croissant Dogs
Croissant Dogs are like big pigs in a blanket. You take a hot dog (we like to use turkey dogs) and wrap them in an unbaked croissant. Then loosely wrap them in foil and cook them over a charcoal grill or fire.

Wacos (walking Doritos tacos)
Waco’s are a quick and delicious meal you can eat without plates. You take a small bag of Doritos, crunch them up, add ground beef, cheese and lettuce and BOOM you have a Dorito Waco.

Personal sized bags of Doritos, ground beef, taco seasoning, shredded lettuce, cheese.
Hobbit Potatoes
This recipe was stolen from our sister-in-law, Kristen. These are so good, especially on a freezing cold night. Cube a potato, add bacon bits, cheese, butter, chopped onions, sliced carrots, salt and pepper, and whatever you like on a baked potato, wrap it up in foil and cook it over a grill.
Hobbit Potato Camping Recipe:
Potato’s, bacon, butter, cheese, onions, carrots, salt, pepper, any toppings you like on a baked potato.
Desserts
No Campout is complete without S’mores for dessert. We like to change up our s’mores.
Remixed S’mores
Customize your s’mores with different candies. We love it with peanut butter so make it easy and use a Reese’s peanut butter cup.
