Phoenix is one of our favorite destinations!
When I first visited Phoenix I was invited for a bachelor party.
I was unsure what fun the desert had in store and it was a wonderful surprise.
I’ve recently visited again and experienced new exciting things.
The desert heat isn’t as bad as you would imagine. In comparison to Oklahoma’s humid heat, Arizona’s dry heat is much more comfortable but remember your sunscreen!
Here’s our favorite things we’ve done in the Phoenix area so far.
1. Hot Air Expeditions Balloon Ride
Riding on a Hot Air Balloon is on many bucket lists. It was on ours and we were so glad we finally marked it as complete.
The desert landscape is amazing to see from a high up in the sky.
Find out all about our experience in our full Hot Air Expeditions article 5 Reasons to Balloon with Hot Air Expeditions.
2. The Desert Botanical Garden
We were very impressed during our visit to the Desert Botanical Garden. The variety of rare Cacti, succulents and plants in the garden were interesting to see. The information provided around the Botanical Garden was very educational and helped us understand more about desert vegetation.
3. Arizona Outdoor Fun – Adventures & Tours
On the bachelor party trip we went for a 4wheeler adventure through the desert. It was a wild ride which we all loved.
We rented side by sides and 4 wheelers and drove through the cactus-covered hillsides. It was actually pretty challenging at times.

4. Go for a Hike
There are so many beautiful places to hike around Phoenix. We hiked the Phoenix Mountain Preserve next to the Phoenix City Viewpoint
We’ve also heard Camel Back Mountain is a great place for hiking as well.
5. Take a Day Trip to Sedona
We took a day trip to Sedona, Arizona to hike and see the natural sites.
There is also a Red Rock Scenic Byway where you can see many amazing views without hiking.
Check out our article all about A Day Trip To Sedona. (Coming Soon)
6. Hang at a pool
Yes, Arizona’s dry heat isn’t as sticky and sweaty as we are used to in Oklahoma’s humid heat but it’s still nice to cool off in a pool.
We recommend finding a resort, Airbnb or hotel with a pool.
We loved our stay at Cibola Vista in Peoria, Arizona. They had amazing pools and so much more.

7. Day trip to the Grand Canyon
Grand Canyon is a few hours away but worth the drive for sure.
It will be one of the most amazing things you have ever seen.
That’s it for fun places we have seen around Phoenix, but what do you think?
