5 Reasons you need to visit Greenleaf State Park

I recently started writing more about my home state of Oklahoma. Many people ask What’s There to do in Oklahoma? So I started a section of my website, a Facebook page and Instagram page to share all the great things there are to do in Oklahoma! You may be surprised what you find Oklahoma has to offer. Greenleaf State Park is one of those places.

GreenLeaf State Park is one of 34 awesome Oklahoma State Parks. It’s one of the original 7 Parks and it’s one of our favorites.

The park was built in the 1930’s and has wonderful hiking trails, a lake, campsites and is great for fishing and more.

Check out our Vlog Video from our most recent visit to Greenleaf State Park!

Here’s 5 reasons we love Greenleaf State Park

5. The Hiking Trail

There is an 18 mile hike which sounds like quite an adventure. We have only done shorter hikes and not the full 18 miles yet, but I’d love to attempt the full hike in the future.

4. The Lake

You can take different kinds of boats out on the lake, hike around it and enjoy the Marina Grill and store on it. It’s a great place to fish as well. We saw many fish large jumping across the lake.

3. The Marina & Grill

The Marina has a selection of supplies you can get whether its things you forgot or things to add to your adventure. They also have food and snacks for sale as well. This is where you can rent the different kinds of boats to take out on the lake.

2. The Campgrounds

The Campsites at Greenleaf are beautifully maintained and not far from trails, the lake, restrooms and playgrounds. We loved camping with the scouts at the Trail Head Campsite.

No camping experience is complete without s’mores. Try adding peanut butter to it. It will change your life.

1. The Playground

The playground is old school and awesome!

Complete with a swing set, monkey bars and the spinning circle thing known as a round a bout or merry go round.

Our experiences at Greenleaf

We have visited Greenleaf multiple times, our most recent time with Cash’s Cub Scout Pack. My grandpa used to take a bunch of my family here with his RV before I was born.

During our last stay, we camped at the Trail head Group Campsite. It was a great location near the lake, hiking trail, playground and restrooms. I highly recommend it.
