10 Reasons to visit the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC + Tips for your upcoming visit.

The museum of the Bible is one of our favorite museums in Washington DC!

The Museum of the Bible has multiple floors with interactive exhibits, films, artifacts and so much more.

Here’s our list of 10 Reasons to visit the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC.

10. The Tour Tablet

Included with your ticket purchase is an optional tablet with a tour system installed.

It has an interactive map along with a ear bud so you can learn about the exhibits while you explore the museum.

9. The VR Experiences

The Explore VR Experience is a wonderful experience.

It takes you through the holy land showing many amazing sites from important places throughout the Bible.

It is an additional cost for the VR tour but we think it’s worth it!

8. The Washington Revelations Experience Ride

The Washington Revelations Experience really blew us away.

We honestly had no clue what we signed up for. Kayla wanted to keep it a surprise to us.

It’s a type of 4D theatre ride with wind and the viewing area moves around a bit. If you get motion sickness – we wouldn’t recommend you riding this. Kayla felt pretty nauseous after the ride was finished.

It felt as if we were flying around DC. It was very fun! It is an additional cost as well but also worth it.

7. Temporary Exhibits

The Museum of the Bible has outstanding temporary exhibits.

We enjoyed learning about and seeing one of the few original copies of the Magna Carta.

We also saw another temporary exhibit – The People of the Land (Israel Antiques Authority) it displayed many artifacts.

6. The Café

The Bible Museum has so many great things to see you’re going to want to stop and get a bite.

The Milk and Honey Cafe has a variety of delicious food and drinks.

We enjoyed the paninis and lemonade.

5. The Children’s Section

Most of the museum is fun and exciting for kids but the specified Children’s area was a wonderful section.

4. History of the Bible

Drive thru History Experience

The Drive through history of the Bible was an exciting film.

The History of the Bible section also has a section showing the processes of making bibles and the types and translations of the bible.

It also has many historical bibles, scrolls and more Bible artifacts.

Some of the Dead Sea scrolls were by far one of the coolest exhibits in the museum.

I was amazed to see a virtual tour guide in the history of the Bible section.

There was a very knowledgeable historian that answered questions and helped people from a tv screen.

3. Illuminations Exhibit

The Illuminations exhibit was very inspiring to see.

It’s all about the progress of translating the Bible. It shares current info on what has already been translated, in progress and not yet started.

2. The Stories of the Bible

The Stories of the Bible section was my favorite section.

It has interactive tours and exhibits.

The World of Jesus of Nazareth was like walking through a movie set.

It was beautiful to see the types of rooms and items they used in Jesus’ day.

It makes a great place for photo ops!

My favorite part of the Stores of the Bible was the Hebrew Bible section.

It’s hard to explain and they wouldn’t allow photography in the tour.

But it walked us through the stories of the Old Testament with amazing works of art projected on the walls and on structures.

The combinations of projectors, screens, props and other audio visual effects made it unlike anything we had ever experienced.

1. The Bible Now Exhibit

The Bible now exhibit shows ways the Bible has influenced today’s culture.

It was exciting to see how far the Bible has come and how many people it has helped inspire today.

Bonus 1: The Museum of the Bible Gift Shop

The Gift Shop has a great variety of gifts. So many great things for all ages, from decor, to clothing and much more.

Bonus 2 : The YouVersion Bible App Display

The YouVersion Bible app display is very important to us. It’s all about the free Bible app you can get on many phones.

It was developed by our church – Life Church.TV We love the app because it’s completely free and has many translations of the Bible.

Overall

Overall we loved our visit to the Museum of the Bible and hope to go back soon.

We didn’t even get to see everything the museum has to offer but thankful for the time we had to see what we could.
